Sons of Thunder Mountain: 6pm - 9pm

The Sons of Thunder Mountain is a trio formed as an American acoustical folk music group in the tradition of The Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkle, The Brothers Four and The Seekers.  SoTM performs folk songs by John Denver, Pete Seger, Bob Dylan, Donovan, Arlo Guthrie, Gordon Lightfoot and Jimmy Buffet, as well as dozens of others.

Not limiting themselves to folk music, SoTM's repertoire of over a hundred songs goes back into the 1930's, plays folk rock in acoustical renditions from The Byrds, Linda Ronstadt, Buffalo Springfield, The Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash....and then there is the occasion original song written by one of the members.  The group also varies its program with country, rock and swing, as well as taking requests - - when appropriate.

The group features both tight harmonies and instrumental prowess in the framework of a casual and family-friendly show, based on light-hearted banter amongst the members.  The group's name originates from the Thunder Mountain Railroad Line, which first hired the trio to perform regularly on their excursions.

Besides appearing in Idaho's Treasure and Magic Valleys, SoTM has performed in Northwest music festivals, county fairs, on cruise ships, and as the opening act for nationally-known musicians.  SoTM has two albums, one recorded live (out of print) and one in the studio, distributed on the Toad Records label

David Moss, originally  from Pocatello Idaho, has been performing locally in Boise area for the past 12 years.  His love for guitar started at a young age, and after a few early lessons he took to teaching himself to play many styles. Along the way he started writing songs, which led him to join the Idaho Songwriters Association. He has been a member of several different groups throughout the years, with latest being an Acoustic Duo with Don Cunningham.

Don Cunningham has been a fixture in the Southern Idaho music scene for over 40 years bouncing back-and-forth between acoustic and electric combos. He has been writing songs since the age of 15 and for 25 years he has operated a recording studio that bears his name. He considers himself very fortunate to have made a successful career out of his love of music.

One track, "FORTY MILES TO SAN ANTONE," spent 12 weeks during the Spring and Summer of 2008 on the EUROPEAN COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOC. charts peaking at #70.
