Sandbar & BAR365 Admission Price: Free and open to the public

BAR365 5pm-7pm: Sean Hatton

Sean Hatton is widley known as the frontman to Boise's Americana rock band, New Transit. "Hatton crafts melodic, more straightforward gems. His twang-tinged voice was born for this dirt-road rock, soft and wise, as if whittled from old barnwood." - Idaho Statesman For more information: www.reverbnation.com/newtransit

Sandbar 5pm-8pm: Scott Knickerbocker & Travis Ward

Scott Knickerbocker plays old-time mountain music, traditional country and blues on banjo, fiddle, and guitar. Part of his old-time string band Hokum Hi-Flyers, he is part of the living tradition of "old, weird America," they sing of love and murder, sin and redemption, whiskey and whimsy.

“Too authentic to be considered alt anything. Ward is an evocative, charismatic singer-songwriter who embraces diverse shards of Americana. Time-warped kaleidoscopes —sparse, historically reverent and pretty terrific.” — Michael Deeds, Idaho Statesman

Sandbar & BAR365 Admission Price: Free and open to the public

BAR365 5pm-8pm: Moss & Riche

Originally from Pocatello Idaho, I moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1971 after being adopted. From a young age, I’ve always found comfort in music and used to lie awake at night creating symphonies in my mind. In the sixth grade, I joined band class and played trombone, starting a musical journey that has lasted til present day. After getting my first guitar at age twelve, I didn’t realize that putting it down wouldn’t be an option. After a few early lessons I took to teaching myself to play many styles. Somewhere along the way I started singing. I’ve been in a few bands including The Decade Blues Band, SoundHawk and most recently RoundHouseAnthem. Now, performing solo and song writing are my passion. Music has allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings about life and living.

Sandbar 5pm-8pm: Steve Eaton

As a songwriter, Steve’s songs have earned gold and platinum records for The Carpenters and Art Garfunkel. His songs have also been recorded by many other artists, including Glen Campbell, The Righteous Brothers, Ann Murray, and Lee Greenwood. Steve has received Emmy nominations for his original music written for PBS and has written music for the Nature Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Some consider his song Idaho I Love You to be the true state song of Idaho. As a performer, Steve has performed in a variety of venues all over the country, and has been a member of several bands including The Fabulous Chancellors and Paul Revere and the Raiders. Sandbar 5pm-8pm: Brook Faulk Band

The love of music for singer/songwriter Brook Faulk comes from the same motto that makes most businesses successful...location, location, location. Raised on a cattle ranch under the Western sky, Brook comes from a long line of real cowboys and rodeo men. She grew up listening to all the old country favorites with her dad, while driving down the long dusty roads. It was there that Brook developed her love affair with music. A throwback from the past, she began singing at a young age, quickly finding her way into the rural music scene of country fairs, coffee houses, and local honkytonks.

Sandbar 5pm-8pm: Spencer Batt

Born and raised in the hop fields of Idaho's Snake River Valley, Spencer Batt's earthy sound is a direct product of his upbringing. Much time was spent sitting in the back of his father’s pickup truck listening to 60's and 70's rock 'n roll while cruising through the fields. It wasn't until dropping out of concert band and piano lessons that he found his love for guitar at the age of 16. From there he would go on to the University of Idaho where he would start his first band Clearview, and begin the path of singer/songwriter. Upon graduation, Spencer found himself without a proper job secured, but was scraping by playing music. This free spirited attitude turned out to be the catalyst that would ultimately lead to the incarnation of Boise based band Soul Serene. After 4 years of hitting the local scene and touring the northwest, Spencer returned to the University of Idaho to complete a master’s degree. Upon graduation in May 2014, Spencer once again decided to forego a “traditional” career and returned to music. Since then he has played nearly five hundred shows, crafted tens of songs, and has smiled more than the average guy should. Spencer plans to continue his quest in the music business, and hopes to release his eponymous debut on his own record label, Fargo Road Records, in 2016.

To Blaze and Kelly, it’s not money, fame, or precision that creates happiness, but genuine human connection. The Sapphire Room | Jon Klein

Cohara & Klein In Concert

Jon Klein met Jake Cohara in April of 2017, and the two have been making music together ever since. Cohara & Klein’s original music is a blend of rock, R&B, pop, reggae and folk, with the resulting sound being something entirely new.

Jon hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up playing in the local bands there, always admiring the songwriting skills of Lennon/McCartney and Elton John/Bernie Taupin. Jon studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music and Musician’s Institute, eventually working with Supertramp’s Carl Verheyen. Jon’s guitar playing has gained local notoriety while he’s accompanied singer/songwriter Steve Eaton for the past ten years, and Gayle Chapman and Redstone before that.

Jake Cohara hails from Portland, and is a popular performer in the local music scene there. Jake’s powerful, soulful vocals have invited comparisons to Scott Weiland and Eddie Vedder, but still the young, blonde-haired singer brings something refreshingly new to the music table. Backed by a band of talented musicians, come listen to Cohara & Klein’s music in the beautiful Sapphire Room!

Jack Loyd Gish is a rare songwriting talent, unique in his approach to music. His lyrics tell of a world where main street is lit by the beer signs in the windows of the bar. He sings about love and Idaho and his messages are for everyone. There’s sugar in the coffee and a dirty bar rag.

Jack has hundreds of great songs to share and it amazes us that this is only his first release. This album will entertain you and keep you coming back! Jack's autobiographical fictional songwriting has influenced songs on the CD such as 'Turn Out The Lights", "Another Drink" and "Idaho Blues". Jack will be joined by TT Miller, Larry “Mando” Brandon, Tommy Hogard, Grant Green, Steve Eaton, Gordon and Tamera Hamilton

Oh yeah! He’s extremely good look’in too... just ask his wife, Lois!

Jack Loyd Gish was born in Cottonwood, Idaho in 1947 and was raised in small north Idaho towns from Bonner’s Ferry to Craigmont. His father (an old-time fiddler) brought a guitar home and at 16 Jack instantly be came a songwriter. After serving his country as an Army Lieutenant in the late sixties he returned home to Idaho and continued his passion for songwriting. He moved south to Boise in the early seventies and became a familiar face in the local music scene. Starting out with the duos of Garets & Gish and Gish & Moran, playing The Sandpiper, Pengilly’s, Lock, Stock & Barrel and other venues in Boise and surrounding towns. The duos developed into The Cowboy Hatband then the Jack Gish Band, and now, much later ‘defjak’. A devoted husband and family man Jack put his performing on hold for 30 years to raise his four kids. Thanks to his good friend Bob Kambitsch he came out of reclusion and joined the ISA in 2010 and became a proud and supportive member. After 50+ years of songwriting and thanks to his good friends and producers Gordon and Tamera Hamilton, his dream of recording a CD of original songs has come true.

Steve Eaton says, "As a songwriter. I get many chances to listen to other songwriters material. I just recently heard a new CD entitled Jack Loyd Gish. This CD gets 15 out of 15 homers! I consider Jack the Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) of songwriting!"

To quote fellow songwriter Mike Cramer, “Jack is an amazing songwriter and a humble man."

From fellow songwriter and band member TT Miller, "Jack's CD is masterfully written, listen closely to his stories..."

Her playing and singing can be summed up as “smooth and sophisticated”, and, as many a fan has stated, she’s “very, very easy on the ears”.

The Sapphire Room | Thistledown with Fulton Hunt Opening

Thistledown with Fulton Hunt Opening

Thistledown plays a unique brand of indie-folk-blues, mixing various forms from the American music landscape. Started with the premise of being a songwriter’s collective with multiple voices and instruments in harmony. Though less than a year on the scene they have firmly placed themselves in the regional music spotlight with performances at the Treefort Music Festival, the Sawtooth Valley Gathering and opening for members of Old Crow Medicine Show, The Shook Twins, The Young Dubliners and Rose’s Pawn Shop. The Sapphire Room | Andy Byron's Americana Music Series

Andy Byron's Americana Music Series:

A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO

"2 GEORGES--STRAIT & JONES"

with The Mighty Red Melons

The Mighty Red Melons pay tribute to two more of their C/W heroes, George Jones and George Strait. Both born in trailer parks to the sound of Hank Williams playing on scratchy 78's in the back room, while the family played darts in the kitchen and got mad at the noise. This hollerin' caused these two babies to start singing when they were only three days old, and they each were making a living on the street corners of Ferguson, Tennessee, and Lewiston, Idaho respectively by the time they were 5. Although from different generations, their paths crossed often at Safeway stores across America as they looked into each other's baskets to see what was in there, and then sang about it.

So many of those songs can still be heard on the radio even today, although, with all the “so called” country on there these days, this stuff gets closer and closer to the bottom shelf every year. But if you want to hear real honky tonk from the Two Greatest George's....this show will have it, from stompers to weepers and everything in between. Bring your hankies and your boots… time for another great Melon Tribute Show!

SOLD OUT!

Doors open at 7pm, Show at 8pm

General seating: $20 online ($23 at the door)

Preferred seating: $28 online ($31 at the door

The Sapphire Room | Boise Jazz Society

Boise Jazz Society presents:

Cecile McLorin Salvant Quartet

Doors open at 6:00pm; Show starts at 7:00pm

LIMITED TICKETS MAY BE AVAILABLE

visit boisejazzsociety.org or call 208-426-3498 for more information

Cécile McLorin Salvant was born and raised in Miami, Florida of a French mother and a Haitian father. She started classical piano studies at 5, and began singing in the Miami Choral Society at 8. Early on, she developed an interest in classical voice, began studying with private instructors, and later with Edward Walker, vocal teacher at the University of Miami.

In 2007, Cécile moved to Aix-en-Provence, France, to study law as well as classical and baroque voice at the Darius Milhaud Conservatory. It was in Aix-en-Provence, with reedist and teacher Jean-François Bonnel, that she started learning about jazz, and sang with her first band. In 2009, after a series of concerts in Paris, she recorded her first album "Cécile", with Jean-François Bonnel's Paris Quintet. A year later, she won the Thelonious Monk competition in Washington D.C.

Over the years, she has developed a curiosity for the history of American music, and the connections between jazz, vaudeville, blues, and folk music. Cécile carefully chooses her repertoire, oftentimes unearthing rarely recorded, forgotten songs, with strong stories.
She enjoys popularity in Europe and in the United States, performing in clubs, concert halls, and festivals. In 2014, her second album, WomanChild (Mack Avenue Records) was nominated for a Grammy.

Her third album, For One To Love (for Mack Avenue Records), was recorded in 2015 with Aaron Diehl (piano), Paul Sikivie (bass), and Lawrence Leathers (drums). In 2016, For One To Love won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
