Early lessons on the fiddle led to studying guitar in junior high school. He studied with many of the region's finest players and teachers before pursuing classical guitar at the University of Oregon. Returning to Boise in 1991, Jonah played in local bands and taught private lessons at Old Boise Guitar Co. before moving to Boston in 1995 to study jazz guitar, violin, and improvisation at the Berklee College of Music. Traveling and playing throughout Europe and Asia, he came back to Boise in 2002 and co-founded Old Boise Music Studios where he has been teaching since 2005. A life long devotee of swinging dance music, he is happy to maintain a busy performing schedule with 3 great swinging dance bands  The Country Club, The Frim Fram Four, and The Hokum Hi-Flyers. Paul’s can.” His talents are demonstrated on vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, mandolin and accordion both in live performances and on his albums ‘Goodbye, Waterloo…‘(2011) and ‘House On Fire ‘(2009), and his EPs “Yours, Etc…’ (2004) and ‘Interference’ (2015).

Sandbar & BAR365 Admission Price: Free and open to the public

BAR365 5pm-8pm: Moss & Riche

Originally from Pocatello Idaho, I moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1971 after being adopted. From a young age, I’ve always found comfort in music and used to lie awake at night creating symphonies in my mind. In the sixth grade, I joined band class and played trombone, starting a musical journey that has lasted til present day. After getting my first guitar at age twelve, I didn’t realize that putting it down wouldn’t be an option. After a few early lessons I took to teaching myself to play many styles. Somewhere along the way I started singing. I’ve been in a few bands including The Decade Blues Band, SoundHawk and most recently RoundHouseAnthem. Now, performing solo and song writing are my passion. Music has allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings about life and living.

Sapphire Brunch 9am - Noon: Sean Hatton & Thomas Paul

Sean Hatton is widley known as the frontman to Boise's Americana rock band, New Transit. "Hatton crafts melodic, more straightforward gems. His twang-tinged voice was born for this dirt-road rock, soft and wise, as if whittled from old barnwood." - Idaho Statesman For more information: www.reverbnation.com/newtransit

Thomas Paul is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Boise, Idaho. Thomas is adept in a diverse range of musical genres spanning from garage rock to lounge blues to folk and, according to Michael Deeds of The Idaho Statesman he “is a talented dude. He’s been in more Boise bands than any sane musician should, and he plays essentially any instrument with strings or keys plopped in front of him. He’s also eccentric. Can music be funky and ominous? Paul’s can.” His talents are demonstrated on vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, mandolin and accordion both in live performances and on his albums ‘Goodbye, Waterloo…‘(2011) and ‘House On Fire ‘(2009), and his EPs “Yours, Etc…’ (2004) and ‘Interference’ (2015).

BAR365 5pm-8pm: Blaze & Kelly

To listen to Blaze and Kelly is to experience a musical nirvana. Their art takes the listener beyond the realm of the temporal, and into those intangible places we call spirit, dreams, and love. There’s no doubt these two laughter-loving women can sing—Niccole’s powerful lead vocals blend perfectly with Mo’s sweet tone. But what makes them true artists is their ability to create emotion. To Blaze and Kelly, it’s not money, fame, or precision that creates happiness, but genuine human connection. And their songs illustrate the humanity, passion, and truth each one of us strives to feel and find gladness

Sandbar 11am-1pm: Mike Cramer

Mike Cramer's performances include an interesting cross section of cover songs, leaning toward classic rock n' roll to classic country.  He sprinkles in his original songs between the covers, providing the background story behind each song.  Somebody once said of his voice "...it sounds like melting chocolate."

Sandbar 2pm-5pm: Naomi Psalm Band

"Psalm's creations can be somber, poignant and even reverent, her talents akin to Sarah McLachlan" ~Andrew Crisp BOISE WEEKLY
Award winning singer/songwriter Naomi Psalm grew up in Florida and began her music career at the age of 19. She has traveled to over 30 countries doing volunteer work involving music, as well as State-side touring. The Sapphire Room | Andy Byron's Americana Music Series

Andy Byron's Americana Music Series:

A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO

"2 GEORGES--STRAIT & JONES"

with The Mighty Red Melons

The Mighty Red Melons pay tribute to two more of their C/W heroes, George Jones and George Strait. Both born in trailer parks to the sound of Hank Williams playing on scratchy 78's in the back room, while the family played darts in the kitchen and got mad at the noise. This hollerin' caused these two babies to start singing when they were only three days old, and they each were making a living on the street corners of Ferguson, Tennessee, and Lewiston, Idaho respectively by the time they were 5. Although from different generations, their paths crossed often at Safeway stores across America as they looked into each other's baskets to see what was in there, and then sang about it.

So many of those songs can still be heard on the radio even today, although, with all the “so called” country on there these days, this stuff gets closer and closer to the bottom shelf every year. But if you want to hear real honky tonk from the Two Greatest George's....this show will have it, from stompers to weepers and everything in between. Bring your hankies and your boots… time for another great Melon Tribute Show!
